Aluminium drip edge profiles from Westermayr Profile should be cut with a hand saw or a power saw designed for cutting aluminium. Using an angle grinder is not permitted.

Cut by hand on a stable surface, e.g. a table to which a plastic or wooden mitre box is fixed. If the box is made of another, harder material, line its base, e.g. with a thin board or plywood, to avoid scratching the profiles. Secure the profile so that it cannot move while you are cutting. If you are using a manual mitre saw with a guide, place the profiles in the holder and rest them against the back wall to keep them stable during cutting. For cutting by hand, use a frame saw with a metal blade suitable for  aluminium. After cutting, you may need to deburr the cut edge with a flat file.

Machine cutting is much faster and more precise and needs no deburring, but it does require more expensive tools, e.g. a mitre saw fitted with a circular blade for cutting aluminium.

Cutting must not cause local overheating or melting of the aluminium, which often happens when working with an angle grinder (even one fitted with an aluminium cutting disc). The paint coating can be damaged in an overheated area.

Any damage caused by improper cutting is not covered by the warranty.
